Listen to Your Own Heart and Soul

“Listen to your own heart and soul, there you will find some answers.”

    Freedom in Spirituality

This is not a factual piece of writing, but a desire to share my thoughts and feelings to start an open conversation on freedom in spirituality. I have not read every spiritual book, nor do I understand every point of view. I have decided to embark on a journey to understand what is already speaking to my mind, body and soul at this moment in my journey.

    Lost in the City

The largest, most westernised cities seem to be more lost. We are consumed by consumerism and the shallow desires of the ego, not fully understanding why these needs often take over. It is the endless human need to control that keeps people from waking up to their true potential and freedom to go inwards.

We develop addictions and habitual behavioural patterns to handle our complex feelings and human desires, none of which we fully understand. Every human emotion is beautiful, but to reach our potential we have to dig deep and be open to new discoveries, waiting to be unlocked with a key we keep safely stored in our hearts. Once we understand what is keeping us asleep, we can wake to the true beauty in the universe.

The most spiritual and beautiful places in the world — high up in the mountains, by the ocean, or in the depths of nature — are where we feel most connected to our soul. These are spaces ready to become conscious, if not already conscious or having lost their purity. Why is it that people are left to struggle and live a life of restriction when life could be so much more?

That Which Floats Amongst the Stars

I truly believe that what is really there is welcoming and accepting to all of those who wake. We do not go there physically, but energetically. It is a purely energetic place, vast and never-ending, forever expanding, nurturing all the senses in perfect harmony.

That which floats amongst the stars is accepting and welcoming to every being who wakes, buzzing at the perfect frequency, in alignment with our individual and collective bliss. It is the place where we can float and dance to the music within our hearts and souls. If we let go of logic and surrender to what is within, perhaps we can discover something we otherwise made invisible.

    The Enlightened Space

There is a beautiful place to find within us and all around us. We can visit it anytime we truly desire, but we can only go there fully when we have completed our journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Achieved when open to new discoveries, letting the path unfold with a pure desire to see and feel the true beauty in simplicity.

That space is free from preconceptions and judgements passed down from previous generations. These beliefs should not be dismissed; they may reflect truths of their own time, of someone who woke up to tell their story. Over time, we tamper and change the words, and as a result, we are left forever wondering.

We can close our eyes and still see the moon, the stars, and the ocean — that in itself should give us some sense of spiritual freedom.

    Are We All Spiritual Beings?

Are we all healers, musicians, spiritual beings, on the road to discovering our true form? Brought here to learn empathy and understanding of all beings, so that we can return to the light we came from, only to do it again, better each time, ultimately rising to that conscious, enlightened space we truly desire, moving in circles in our search for truth.

Maybe we are all spiritual beings with our own “religion” — that which resonates with our own heart and soul. Maybe we are primarily the same, but the frequency to which we belong is ever so slightly different for each of us. We search sensorially for what gives our life meaning, individually and collectively, seeking balance that is true to our soul.

    Everything Moves in Waves

Everything moves in circles — the same, but ever so slightly different. Ever-changing, like the moon and the tides, always the same but different. Sometimes the ocean is flat, and sometimes it moves in waves. We also move differently, vibrating at our own individual frequency.

What better gift than to embrace what is truly there under the surface, letting it flow through us? This is not a journey of denial or suppression, but the opposite.

We walk the earth making strange encounters with people we don’t yet understand, each teaching us something new. While on this exciting journey to true self-knowledge, we are sometimes scared to go deeper, fearful of death, or even more, fearful of truly living.

Everything is relative, and new discoveries are always waiting, only to be undiscovered again. And there is that which is ever-changing, yet its roots are always the same.

    Awakening

Why are we still sleeping when we know life is more than what we perceive? When we wake to the vastness of the universe and to spirituality, it must exist on a different vibration than the endless rules and political divisions that cause unnecessary destruction to humanity and our planet.

Questions could be endless, but what is alive in all of us is that perfect balance of bliss, discovered briefly in moments, taking generations to truly understand. If we do not reach it in this lifetime, perhaps we return through the light in another body, accepting its so-called flaws and gifts, to take with us on another wonderful rollercoaster of life — the gift of existence itself.

    Oneness

As everyone’s perception differs, there are gaps in our universal understanding. I try to see the truth in every belief, as if it is the truth for many. Who are we to deny that? We are nobody and everybody, without having all of the answers. The basic universal teachings are beautiful, passed down for generations, engrained in our psyche, and holding a special place in the hearts and souls of believers. That alone gives them value and meaning.

Listen to your own heart and soul. Really listen. There you will find some answers.

    Conclusion

Perhaps the freedom we seek has always been within us, quietly waiting. A space we can visit when we pause and truly listen to our hearts, bodies, and souls. In that surrender, in that quiet noticing, we begin to meet ourselves — awake, present, and alive.

  • Yoga and Surrender

    Yoga and Surrender

Learning to surrender to what I feel within, while surrendering to something larger than myself, has been one of the most challenging lessons so far. How freeing it must feel to no longer ask, “Am I a good person? Am I lovable?”

    Practice Without Denying Our Humanity

I’ve come to realise that it’s not about denying our humanity, but embracing it — with our feet firmly on the ground while remaining open to new discoveries. Lessons are learned from the inside out. This, I believe, is one of the most essential aspects of the inner journey toward compassion and awareness.

    My Inner Perfectionist

When I first started teaching Yoga, I was overwhelmed by guilt, believing I had to reach perfection. Being extremely sensitive, I often suppressed what I was feeling. But denial leads to turmoil, because what we don’t process stays in our bodies.

Practices that encourage us to suppress human emotions, pretending to be perfect, shining beings, can lead us down the dangerous path of self-denial and unconscious patterns that affect those around us.

My inner perfectionist was rarely my friend. I often felt unworthy of love and incapable of achieving my goals, always thinking, “I’m not ready yet.” However, like most things we learn on the job, it was essential to take the leap through fear into the unknown — not avoiding challenges, but embracing them.

    Letting Feelings Flow Through Asana

I have reached a place where I can surrender to feelings in a way that doesn’t overwhelm me but guides me toward openness and understanding. Every human emotion is beautiful, and we must not deny ourselves. Instead, we can learn through experience, from ourselves and from others, in order to grow.

When I practice Yoga Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation, I let feelings flow while asking my body and higher self questions — not expecting all the answers straight away, but practising with patience and authenticity.

    Overcoming Suppression

As adults, we often suppress our intuition, whether in survival mode or to conform to society’s demands. This can leave us hollow and unfulfilled, never feeling good enough. Self-acceptance is key to growth.

Our emotional and physical bodies are connected from our roots to our crown. Through Yoga, we can become more in touch with and aware of our bodies. Focusing on the breath during Asana practice helps us surrender to the present moment, scanning for sensations and becoming more at ease with our feelings. Whether considered “good” or “bad,” they are all part of us, guiding us toward wholeness, acceptance, and fulfilment — a state of flow.

    Questions for the Body

We may have physical restrictions we want to work through first, enabling deeper exploration. Ask yourself: Where do I feel love? Where do I hold stress? If your shoulders feel tight or ache, it may indicate tension you are holding emotionally.

Listening to your body allows you to develop a Yoga practice that serves you in the most nurturing way possible. Mindful movement and awareness in Asana help us honour the emotional and physical connection within ourselves.

    Conclusion

Learning to surrender is not about perfection or control. It’s about honouring your emotions, listening to your body, and practising Yoga with patience and authenticity. Each breath, every pose, and every moment of self-reflection is part of the journey. By embracing our humanity and moving with awareness, Yoga can guide us toward flow, acceptance, and a deeper sense of self.
